Privacy Policy
MilkTune — Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 — Effective Date: March 5, 2026
1. Introduction
MilkTune (“we”, “our”, “us”) is built for small dairy producers and follows an offline-first, local-first design for farm records. This Privacy Policy explains what information the MilkTune mobile application (“Application”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
2. Local-First Principle (No Account Required)
MilkTune does not require an account, login, or direct identification such as name, email, or phone number to function. Your detailed farm records (production, sales, costs, tasks, herd notes, and entries) are stored locally on your device.
MilkTune does not upload your complete farm database to our servers as part of normal operation.
3. Key Definitions (Plain Language)
Personal data: information that identifies you directly or could reasonably identify you indirectly. MilkTune does not require your name, email address, phone number, or postal address to function. In the current version of the Application, MilkTune is designed so that your installation is not directly linked by us to those personal identifiers, and purchase transactions are processed through the relevant app store and subscription providers rather than through a personal account created in MilkTune.
Installation identifier: a technical identifier associated with a specific installation of the Application on a device. It is used only for limited operational purposes such as keeping licensing and subscription status active and supporting basic security and access validation. It is not linked by MilkTune to your name, email address, phone number, farm name, or farm records.
Aggregated data: app usage signals related to navigation and features in use within the Application, such as which screens are more used, which features are used more often, error counts, and performance-related diagnostics. These data are used only to help us improve the Application’s stability, compatibility, usability, and performance. They do not include detailed farm records, production data, economic data, market data, or free-text notes.
4. What We Do Not Collect
MilkTune is designed to keep your detailed farm records on your device by default. As part of that design, MilkTune does not intentionally collect or transmit the following as part of normal server-side operation:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts
- Your complete local farm database
- Detailed farm entries such as production, discard, sales, expenses, tasks, herd notes, notes, descriptions, partner names, or other operational records you create in the app
- The free-text content of your entries for telemetry purposes
- City-level location as part of normal telemetry collection, although city information may be provided optionally by you in specific app flows
- Photos, microphone recordings, or private message content
Your detailed farm data remains on your device unless you explicitly export it and choose to share it.
4.1 Market Data Collection
MilkTune does not currently collect, create, or transmit market data snapshots from the Application.
This means the current version of MilkTune does not send server-side datasets intended to measure production patterns, profitability patterns, regional economic trends, discard patterns, or similar market-level analytics derived from your farm records.
If MilkTune introduces any market data collection or transmission in a future version, we will update this Privacy Policy before such collection begins and, where required by applicable law, provide additional notice and/or obtain any required consent.
5. What We Collect
MilkTune may process a limited set of server-side data only for specific operational purposes such as licensing, subscription and entitlement management, security, fraud prevention, and limited app telemetry.
5.1 Licensing, Subscription, and Anti-Abuse Functions
When required to validate purchases, confirm subscription or entitlement status, protect service integrity, or prevent abuse, MilkTune may process a limited set of technical and transactional data such as:
- Purchase validation data (for example, Google Play purchase tokens or receipts)
- Subscription or entitlement status information
- Technical and device context such as app version, build, operating system version, or device model
- Installation identifier used for licensing continuity, security, fraud prevention, and abuse control
MilkTune seeks to process only the minimum information reasonably necessary for these functions and not for unrelated profiling or commercial analytics. This processing is not used to learn your name, email, phone number, or farm records.
5.2 App Telemetry (Usage Diagnostics)
MilkTune may process limited aggregated app usage signals to help maintain application stability, improve compatibility, understand how core features are functioning, and identify where usability or performance improvements may be needed.
This telemetry does not contain your farm records, database content, partner names, or free-text operational notes. It is limited to app usage signals related to how the Application is navigated and used, such as which screens are more used, which features are used more often, error counts, and crash or performance-related diagnostics.
Telemetry may include limited app usage signals such as:
- Which screens are more used
- Which features are used more often
- Error counts (for example, database read or write failures)
- Performance-related diagnostics for selected operations
- Limited processing signals, such as how many records were handled during an operation
- Optional technical or regional context reasonably necessary for diagnostics, compatibility, or product planning, such as locale, country, state or province, app version, build, platform, or operating system version
MilkTune may provide optional in-app features that allow you, on your own initiative, to submit bug reports, error reports, or product feedback. These submissions are separate from automatic telemetry and may be processed to investigate reported issues, improve the Application, or address recurring usability or stability problems. The report package is not intended to include personal identifiers or installation identifiers, other than any information you may choose to include voluntarily in the message itself. Because these submissions may contain free-text information entered by you, we recommend that you avoid including unnecessary personal or sensitive information. Because these reports are not designed to identify you individually, MilkTune may not be able to provide a direct response to a specific submission, although the information may still be used to improve future versions of the Application.
6. How We Use the Data
We use collected data only for:
- License verification and fraud prevention
- Subscription and entitlement management
- Improving reliability, compatibility, and performance through limited telemetry
We do not currently collect, obtain, or use data derived from your farm records for market analytics, benchmarking, or commercial intelligence. In the current version of the Application, MilkTune does not upload, collect, or store your farm database or detailed farm entries online as part of normal operation.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. Legal Bases and Lawful Grounds
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, lawful ground, or lawful purpose for processing, MilkTune relies on the basis permitted by the relevant jurisdiction and the specific context of processing.
Depending on the applicable law, this may include:
- your consent, where consent is required or where you voluntarily submit reports, feedback, or other optional information
- performance of a contract, where processing is necessary to provide the app features, subscription, or entitlement-related functions you use
- legitimate interests or other permitted operational grounds, where recognized by applicable law, such as protecting service integrity, preventing misuse, improving reliability, or supporting limited operational telemetry
- compliance with legal obligations, security requirements, or other lawful grounds recognized by applicable data protection law
MilkTune seeks to process personal data only for lawful purposes and only on the basis permitted under applicable data protection law. We also seek to keep any notice clear and limited to the specific purpose for which the relevant data is processed.
Because MilkTune is designed as a local-first application and does not currently collect market data snapshots in this version, we seek to keep server-side processing limited to what is reasonably necessary for licensing, subscription and entitlement management, security, fraud prevention, and limited operational telemetry.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction and applicable law, you may have rights to:
- Request access to server-side data we are reasonably able to associate with your request
- Request correction or deletion
- Object to processing or request restriction
- Data portability (where applicable)
- Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent)
Some rights may vary depending on the law that applies to you, the type of data being processed, and whether we are reasonably able to identify the relevant data in response to your request.
Because MilkTune is local-first, your operational farm database remains on your device, and MilkTune does not keep a server-side copy or snapshot of your detailed farm records as part of normal operation.
In some cases, MilkTune may not be able to provide a copy of telemetry or user-submitted reports that are not designed to identify you individually. MilkTune does not seek to collect additional identifying information solely to connect preserved telemetry records to a specific person or installation. Telemetry records may be deleted, compacted, or converted into higher-level operational summaries after up to 120 days, in accordance with the applicable retention period and operational needs.
9. Data Retention
We retain server-side data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy:
- Licensing / anti-fraud: retained as needed for entitlement validation, fraud prevention, misuse investigation, audit support, and chargeback-related or transaction-verification windows
- Telemetry: app-usage telemetry, without production, commercial, or detailed farm-record data, is retained for up to 120 days.
We seek not to retain server-side data longer than is reasonably necessary for the function it supports, taking into account operational needs, fraud prevention, legal obligations, and legitimate record-keeping requirements.
MilkTune does not currently retain server-side market data snapshots because the current version of the Application does not collect or transmit them.
10. Third Parties, Processors, and Services
MilkTune uses selected third-party services to support specific functions of the Application, including purchase validation, subscription and entitlement management, security, backend infrastructure, limited server-side storage, and limited telemetry-related processing.
These services currently include:
- Google Play / Google Play Billing, for purchase processing and purchase validation
- RevenueCat, for subscription and entitlement management
- Firebase and Firestore, for backend infrastructure, limited server-side storage, security-related services, and telemetry-related processing
When necessary to provide these functions, MilkTune may share limited technical and transactional information with these providers, such as purchase validation data, subscription or entitlement status information, installation identifiers used for licensing continuity and access validation, app version, and limited device or operating system context relevant to security, compatibility, or service operation. We share only the minimum information reasonably necessary for the relevant function.
These providers do not currently process your farm database, detailed farm entries, production data, commercial records, or market data derived from your farm records as part of the current version of the Application. As part of normal operation, those records remain on your device and are not uploaded to these providers as server-side business datasets.
We do not authorize these providers to use this information for their own independent advertising or marketing purposes. Depending on the function performed and the applicable law, these providers may act as our processors, service providers, or, where legally required, as independent controllers for the limited purpose of delivering their respective services.
11. App Permissions (Android) and Purposes
MilkTune may request permissions such as:
- Internet access: for licensing verification, subscription-related services, security functions, and telemetry transmission
- Notifications (if you enable reminders): to deliver task reminders
- Storage / file access (when exporting backups): to save exported files to a location you choose
12. On-Device Security & Backups
Your farm database stays on your device by default as part of MilkTune’s local-first design.
This design helps keep your detailed farm records under your control, but it also means that regular backups are important. We recommend exporting backups periodically and storing them in a safe and accessible location.
MilkTune does not keep a server-side copy of your detailed farm records as part of normal operation. As a result, if your device is lost, stolen, damaged, replaced, or reset, local data may be unrecoverable without a backup.
13. International Transfers
As part of the operation of the current version of the Application, MilkTune does not transfer your farm database, production records, commercial records, or other business records to international servers.
Some limited technical or transactional data related to purchase validation, subscription and entitlement management, security, infrastructure, or telemetry may, where applicable, be processed through service providers that operate internationally.
Where such cross-border processing occurs, MilkTune seeks to rely on transfer mechanisms and legal grounds recognized or permitted under applicable data protection law, as relevant to the specific function and jurisdiction. Depending on the applicable law and the relevant service provider arrangement, these mechanisms may include adequacy-based transfers, contractual safeguards, consent where required, or other lawful mechanisms made available by the relevant legal framework.
Because MilkTune is designed as a local-first application, farm records remain on your device as part of normal operation, and MilkTune seeks to limit any cross-border processing to the minimum data reasonably necessary for licensing, subscription support, security, infrastructure, and limited app usage telemetry.
14. Children’s Privacy
MilkTune is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
If we become aware that personal data from a child has been submitted in a context not permitted by applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete it or stop further processing, as appropriate.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. For material changes, we will update the effective date/version and provide notice in-app and/or on our official policy page.
